Music is a powerful element of human life and culture. Throughout the ages we have generated great meaning and symbolism through music. In happieness and sadness, I relate to 'The Cat Empire' in terms of their meaningful wording of their songs.
Their view on life emminates through their instraments and vocal sounds. This band for me will always be a strong favorite for that.
Creativity comes to mind when I think about music. It is amazing, Missy Higgins music to me is very powerful music in symbolism. Althought I do not like the tone of all of her songs there are a selection that I believe are very powerful! [Where I Stood - On A Clear Night]
I think people should start to listen to the actual symbolism of music. People listen to music that symbolises death, betrayal and many other things that sure I understand that they may be able to relate to but is this really what you represent as a person.
Everyone has an individual musical personality which is defined by what they listen to or what they sing.
I related to Linkin Park like many of my peers throughout my teen years. Alternative music, Linkin Park released many great songs. Their music has gone down a different path, i believe the best music they released was their origional self-title.
These are just a small selection of music I listen to. I am moving more into rap. I'll blog on that later. [Edit this one and add more!]

If you want to listen to meaningful rap, start with the legend himself and work down. 2pac... pronouced "tu like too and pac like pocket"
some of the film clips are good too. look at 2pac's first single film clip on youtube (brenda's got a baby) and you will be instantly hit with understanding and empathy.
as for missy... convert to missy elliot. :P
